Unveiling the Timeless Power of Business Cards: Why They Still Reign in 2024
Despite the digital age, business cards continue to offer numerous benefits in 2024:
✔️Personal Connection: Exchanging business cards fosters a personal connection and leaves a tangible impression, which is often more memorable than exchanging digital contact information.
✔️Professionalism: Business cards convey professionalism and legitimacy, signaling to potential clients or partners that you take your business seriously and are prepared for networking opportunities.
✔️Convenience: Business cards provide a quick and convenient way to share contact information in face-to-face interactions, especially in situations where digital devices may not be readily available or appropriate.
✔️Brand Representation: Well-designed business cards serve as a visual representation of your brand identity, conveying your company’s values, aesthetics, and personality effectively.
✔️Versatility: Business cards can be distributed at networking events, conferences, meetings, or even in casual settings, extending your reach and facilitating new connections.
✔️Accessibility: Not everyone has access to digital devices or reliable internet connections at all times. Business cards ensure that your contact information is accessible to individuals with varying technological capabilities.
✔️Networking Opportunities: Business cards serve as conversation starters and icebreakers, prompting further discussions about your business, services, or products, and potentially leading to valuable networking opportunities.
✔️Visual Impact: A well-designed business card with eye-catching graphics, typography, and branding elements can make a strong visual impact and leave a lasting impression on recipients.

Why I invested in a Business Coach
In September 2019 almost 4 years in business I knew something had to change. They say when the student is ready the teacher appears. And in my case this is exactly what happened. I was served an ad on Instagram, it was Kirsty Carden, Business Coach & NLP Master. She was inviting me to join her Free 5 Day Sales Breakthrough Challenge.
Is a business coach worth the investment?
Setting up my own business in 2015 was a big change for me and my family. After spending 15 years in a permanent, pensionable job I was taking a big leap of faith jumping into the unknown and setting up my own Digital Marketing Agency, Mini Media.
My experience in the Banking and Financial world stood to me right away and with a strong network built on LinkedIn, I hit the ground running with referral business coming my way in the first month. By dipping my feet into the blogging world a few years previously in 2013 I also had build up an amazing network across all my social media platforms.
I was so ready for the challenge and within 12 months I was back earning my Bank salary, and I was chuffed with myself. But 24 months on I was feeling the pressure and was working around the clock to ensure I was able to sustain the level of income month on month.
Going into year 3 I felt like I was on a hamster wheel. With my main source of income coming from social media management, the hours I was clocking up was starting to take its toll. There was never any downtime. Even on holidays I was constantly online create and curating content. The tweets and notifications were getting more and more frequent and my screen time increasing as a result.
Why I decided to invest in a business coach
In September 2019 almost 4 years in business I knew something had to change. They say when the student is ready the teacher appears. And in my case this is exactly what happened. I was served an ad on Instagram, it was Kirsty Carden, Business Coach & NLP Master. She was inviting me to join her Free 5 Day Sales Breakthrough Challenge.
Just a few days into the challenge I knew I wanted more for my business and even more for me. But FEAR was controlling my thoughts and actions. I was lucky to have a diverse portfolio of retainer clients with a good monthly income but unfortunately it was coming at a cost.
My health was feeling the brunt of it, high blood pressure was a continuous problem and I was gaining weight from lack of exercise. I was loosing my buzz and I knew I had to address the matter before it was too late.
It was a no brainer for me to sign up to Kirsty’s Female Entrepreneur Evolution Academy. It had all the elements I was looking for and ready for. I always had a burning desire to create my own online business, but I knew I required the help of a coach, someone like Kirsty to help get more visibility and clarity with a major mindset shift required.
My experience of working with a coach and joining the academy
Joining the Female Entrepreneur Evolution Academy in September 2019 was definitely the best business and personal decision I ever made. Kirsty is one of a kind and so is her programme. It provided me with everything I needed to create a successful online business, from the mindset shift, allowing me to align myself energetically with what my heart desires as well as a full on strategy to get visible and make sales online.
The most valuable part of the academy for me all took place in Module 1, setting the foundations for success. This included creating a great relationship with money, goal setting, going deep into me and what I truly desired, having all systems in place and expanding your wealth mindset!
I also loved the accountability and being part of a community. Having access to the content after the programme ended was also amazing as it gave me time to get my thoughts and ideas together.
Plan of Action
So in the run up to Christmas I put what I had learnt to the test and set my own 5 Day Challenge to help creative entrepreneur and business owners to create their own website. I got 10 sign ups and convert 3 sales from my first challenge. There was only one thing to do… my happy dance.
Going the extra mile
I also booked a flight to London and checked into the 5 star Warren House Hotel for Kirsty’s Live, Love, Grow Masterclass. This was a truly amazing experience where I got to spend the weekend with so many like minded female entrepreneurs and left feeling very inspired and ready to go into 2020… New Decade, New Me.
What I was about to embark on upon my return would be taking me way out of my comfort zone but I was finally ready for it. It was as if the universe was paying attention to my thoughts and desires. As my social media contracts came to a close they were replaced with one to one consulting and web design clients. I was final able to unleash my creative side and focus more on my own business. I had finally found my purpose.
The Results
Initially I did not have a pipeline of clients like before, which was very scary but also very refreshing. I started to focus on creating more online courses and programmes and by the end of 2020 (even during covid) I had created a successful passion based 6 figure business.
Going into 2021 I am even more driven and motivated to grow my online business, have an engaged audience and a business that is a true reflection of me and my unique talents and experience. For too long I was hiding behind my customers and standing in my own way. I was blocked because of my FEAR.
Once I identified my fears and discovered exactly what I was afraid of I realised it was not all about me. I started to focus on my why… I am passionate about helping creative entrepreneur and business owners live their best digital lives by educating them on easy, proven digital marketing methods that can skyrocket their business growth.
For years I was going alone, I didn’t have a support system. Now I have an amazing team of digital marketing experts in my circle, I also hired two interns have two virtual assistance. Learning to accept and embrace my fears has been the making of me and my business is reaping the rewards.
Where I am now
My mission is now in alignment with my values and I use my gift to help others take control of their digital presence and develop online marketing strategies that wins them customer, leads and sales.
Through My Life In Business Academy I continuous run online course with my signature programme Embrace Digital proving very popular. I teach how to create a social media strategy, design free graphics that stand out from the crowd, create a successful email campaign and give you the secret formula behind every great blog post.
As well as being a digital and business strategist and social media consultant ,I also run a successful web design business and influencer marketing agency Irish Blogger Agency. No two days are the same and I am always kept of my toes keeping up with the latest trends.
The changes since working with a coach
So what has changed since I made the investment to work with a coach? Firstly, I have made some amazing lifestyle changes and habits that I now consider part of my everyday life. Exercise has played a big part in my success. Making time to walk between 5-10 km per day has not just seen a drop in dress size but more importantly I have more energy and a passion for life.
I have gone from working around the clock to a comfortable 40 hours per week. My screen time has halved and my blood pressure and stress levels are under control. I no longer feel I am standing in my own way and as a result I am attracting my ideal clients.
I am clear on what I want and I ask the universe. I trust the process and practice gratitude daily. I keep my vibrations high and clear any resistance. I also made the decision to changed my money mindset, did you know everyday you have the power to make decisions that will move you forward financially or set you back. It’s up to you.
Here’s what I’d say to someone who wants to be where I am now
Making an investment in a coach has been life changing for me, and I don’t say that lightly. Going into the process I was 100% committed, I felt the timing was right for me! I was ready to take consistent action and was excited to be part of a community of female entrepreneurs from all over the world.
Nobody said it was easy but anything is possible. All you need to do is be willing to invest in yourself and your business, be committed and ready to take action and believe in yourself. Small steady steps is the key to accomplishing big goals with ease.
My motto has always been ‘Do what you love, Love what you do’ and I can honestly say I am living by this now.

Build It
Choose a Solid CMS (Content Management System)
A CMS, or content management system, often allows you to design a website from a pre-created template, optimize your content for SEO, and edit the content after it's published.
My preferred platform by miles is Squarespace.
Launch It
As soon as your site is launched, we recommend you:
Verify your site with Google Search Console - After you've verified your site with Google, you can manage your site’s presence in Google search results and see how visitors find you.
Verify your site with Bing Webmaster Tools - Verify your site with Bing to manage your site’s presence in Bing and Yahoo search results.
Connect to Google Analytics - Track visits and other reporting on your site through our built-in integration with Google.
Enable AMP - If you have a blog, enabling AMP creates a stripped-down version of your site that loads faster on mobile devices.
Facebook Pixel: is a tool that tracks visitor activity on a website to help Facebook understand and target users for ads. For example, if a visitor views a product, Pixel can read that information so you can show ads for the product to that same visitor.
Facebook Pixel is a helpful integration for any business, whether you’re selling products or want to drive more traffic to your site.
After launch
As you add or edit content, ensure that your site stays as friendly as possible for search engines.
Follow Google Analytics - Use our integration with Google Analytics for more visitor tracking and reporting.
Make updates strategically - Continue optimizing your site by following our content best practices.
Redirect changed or broken links - If you change the URL slug on a page on your site, create URL redirects to forward visitors who go to the old URL to the correct page.
Continue updating and adding content - Updating your site frequently helps search engines see your site as an active site. One way to regularly add content to your site is to start blogging.

Mini Media Meets... Trish Gallagher, CEO of Bobolu Designs
I’ve always been a great believer in the power of positive quotations and affirmations. For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to them because of the positive vibes they emit.
Trish Gallagher, Founder & CEO
The BOBOLU story and the power of positive quotations
Trish tell us what inspired you to create Bobolu Designs?
I’ve always been a great believer in the power of positive quotations and affirmations. For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to them because of the positive vibes they emit. I have found that when life has thrown me a curve ball or put road blocks in my way I have always turned to positive affirmations or uplifting quotations to take me to a better place in my head. By scribbling these on post it notes and strategically placing them around my house, they help to change my thinking and bring about a positive change in my life.
I bought my first book of quotations over 20 years ago. A tiny little book, no bigger than the size of a box of matches, I still have and refer to it. And from there my love of quotations, positive affirmations and feel good messages grew. A big fan of Louise Hay, a master in positive philosophy, I travelled to San Diego to attend one of her seminars and as well as traveling to hear the likes of Tony Robins, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson and Robert Holden, all gurus in positive thinking and personal development.
It's all in the name... where did the name BOBOLU come from?
So the name….its quiet simple really, we have two gorgeous children called Bobby and Lucy, hence I called the company BOBOLU. On a rare occasion when my husband Sean and I had the opportunity to get a night away together, and armed with nothing but a pen and a glass of wine, we started writing versions of their names on a coaster. That was the beginning.
I came home the following night, took out a flip chart and came up with BOBOLU; Bob-o-Lu. Hopefully as they get older they’ll come to understand why I came up with that name. In time, I want them to know that it is important for me to have a career & fulfil my own needs. I also want them to know that I love them beyond measure and calling my company after them encompasses both my love for them as well as doing a job I love.
Tell us about your Mission for BOBOLU
My mission with BOBOLU is to spread that positive vibe which will hopefully help others in their own pursuit of happiness and success, be it in their personal lives, careers or businesses.
I believe passionately in the power of words. That’s why I’ve created a range of products that incorporate positive quotations and empowering affirmations.
Designed to awaken optimism and encourage growth and expansion, these products are the ideal way to enhance your home or office. My wish for you is that, here at BOBOLU, you will find the perfect gift for yourself or others.

Sinéad Carroll, Founder and CEO of Mini Media and Irish Blogger Agency
I was first up to deliver my presentation on 'The rise of Digital Influencer Marketing and how it can impact your bottom line'. As CEO of Irish Blogger Agency, Ireland's dedicated agency for digital influencer marketing I was in a position to share my experiences and give my point of view on the benefits of digital influencer marketing, how to measure influencer marketing success, how to effectively engage with digital influencers and I closed my presentation by sharing some successful digital influencer campaigns over the past 12 months.
Daniel Browne, Commercial Director Ocean Media, Director of Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival
As a blogger and content creator I was very interested in hearing Daniel Browne's presentation titled ' Content is still king' - exploring constants in a changing environment'. Having worked in the media in the north west for almost 20 years, after a career in journalism Daniel moved to the commercial side of media opening 13 Newspapers for River Media as Operations Director. With all this experience, amazing stage presence and lots of charm it is no wonder Daniel delivered a fantastic presentation.
Today Daniel is the Commercial Director of Ocean Media, which operates the award winning radio station Ocean FM, and now delivers video production for commercial clients across the region as well as web design, social media management and graphic design. Daniel is also one of the owners of Sea Sessions Surf Music Festival in Bundoran, a multi award winning festival which most recently beat Electric Picnic and Longtitude to be named the IMRO festival of the year for 2016.
Barry Walsh, Digital Marketing Manager, Supermacs Ireland
Confident, charismatic and full of energy, Barry Walsh delivered an excellent presentation on 'Understanding mobile experience for business'. As Digital Marketing Manager for Supermacs Ireland Barry oversees management and development of Online Digital Strategy and implementation for Supermac's Ireland. Barry also spoke about Digital Transformation and shared news of the new Supermac's app launching soon. He also touched on branding through Social Media and Google Analytics for business.

Paul Mulqueen, Head of Small Business, eir
Sharing some real life examples from his own personal experiences, Paul gave a true and honest insight into the use of social media for small to medium size businesses. There was lots to be learnt during Paul's presentation on 'The Revolution of Social Media in Small Business', with some top tips and tools shared, allowing you to take your business into the digital age!
Paul started in eir over 19 years ago, when it was Telecom Eireann, within the IT department. He began his career as a Trainee Test Analyst testing the introduction of a new and innovative product called ‘broadband’! Since then, Paul’s role has evolved as he progressed through the company becoming a Product Manager for Value Added Services and Broadband. While in this role, he took the retail product lead in the development and implementation of fibre broadband in Ireland.
Following this, he became Head of Product for Small Business and subsequently the Head of Small Business where he manages the product and propositions areas for the business unit. Through his role, Paul has seen first-hand how the explosion of social media has helped small businesses thrive. Paul knows it’s powerful to be connected online but that’s not enough, how you use your channels and what you say to your customers is what really takes a small business to the next level.
Panel Discussion / Q & A
With an eager and engaged audience there was no shortage of questions at the end, all answered comprehensively by the panel. Every day is a learning day in the 'Digital Space' so I have no doubt everyone left with some nugget of wisdom and excited to integrate (or improve) a digital marketing strategy into their marketing plan. I certainly gained from bieng part of the workshop and I am looking forward to implementing some new and exciting strategies into my own digital marketing plan over the coming months.

Breast Cancer Research is a national charity celebrating 25 years of positively impacting future outcomes for breast cancer patients by funding world-class breast cancer research at NUI Galway. In Ireland, 1 in 10 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast cancer is more common in women over the age of 50, however women (and men) of any age can develop breast cancer. Early detection is the best defence against breast cancer and research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. Visit www.BreastCancerResearch.ie for tips on how to become more breast aware.
