The local hair and beauty complex welcomed everyone between 11am and 2pm to enjoy light refreshments, kids face painting by Chloe & Keisha and aroma hand massages by Dolores from Irish Health Hour.

With the support of local businesses including R.Dent, The g Hotel, Nimue Skin Ireland, Elverys, Ór Jewellery, Suzie Mahony Designs and Anthony Ryans there were lots of amazing spot prizes up for grabs.  The first 20 people to donate also received a little gift.

Award winning milliner Suzie Mahony had a selection of hats and accessories on display and sponsored a fabulous gold clutch worth €65.  The team from Rdent Cosmetic and General Dentistry also support this event by sponsoring the fantastic selection of cupcakes, cookies and cake pops created by Nicci's Cake Labs and a hamper worth €150.

Mike O’Connor Owner of Bellissimo, explains why he chose to support the charity “Bellissimo are only too delighted to support BCRI helping to raise much needed funds and of course bringing more local awareness to this amazing organisation.  An extremely high proportion of our clientele are female and I personally don't know one family who hasn't been affected by cancer. Doing our 'little bit to help' is part of our ethos here at Bellissimo and we hope it will be supported strongly by our friends and clients on the day... last year was a great success and we hope this year will be even better!”

A total of €733.17 was raised on the day with all funds donated to Breast Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone that support this very worthy cause and donated so generously.  You support is very much appreciated.

Breast Cancer Research is a national charity celebrating 25 years of positively impacting future outcomes for breast cancer patients by funding world-class breast cancer research at NUI Galway. In Ireland, 1 in 10 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast cancer is more common in women over the age of 50, however women (and men) of any age can develop breast cancer. Early detection is the best defence against breast cancer and research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. Visit www.BreastCancerResearch.ie for tips on how to become more breast aware.

Sparkle at the g in aid of Tomorrow for Tomás

I was delighted to be able to support Sparkle at the g fashion fundraiser in aid of Tomorrow For Tomás on Friday the 23rd September in the g Hotel .  I had the pleasure of working with Tomás' parents Shane & Ann-Marie McLoughlin and the fantastic fundraiser committee over a 3 month period.

I also got to hang out with Tomás, such a fun loving and happy boy and I instantly fell in love with his bright and chatty personality.  Tomás, is 6 and a half years  old and has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  Born at 26 weeks he and his twin arrived unexpectedly into the world.  Sadly his brother Seán passed away after 30 days.  Tomás has no independent movement and he will require life-long supports and very costly equipment.

I was responsible for the digital marketing strategy leading up to the event, including:

  • Setting up a Twitter Account
  • Online ticket sales
  • Facebook Live
  • Actively monitoring social media
  • Content creation
  • Design of invitations and tickets
  • Web design

The event was a huge success with a total of €13,230 raised.  The funds are being used so that the family home can be adapted for Tomás’ living and care needs, as well as ensuring safe and easy access about the house and garden on his new wheels!

#Sparkleattheg also trended on twitter on the night of the fashion show - Mini Media was very happy with that.
